2021 – Rhondi Shigemura-Webster (MS ’90)


Rhondi Shigemura-Webster completed her Master of Science in Food Science and Nutrition at Chapman while working at CaseSwayne Co./Unilever Best Foods, where she remained for 12 years. She later graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with a Master of Business Administration from their executive program, then took a director position at Jamba Juice (Jamba, Inc.) in San Francisco.

Rhondi soon joined Senomyx, a breakthrough biotech company in La Jolla that uses human taste receptors to develop flavors and flavor enhancers for the food, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries. She also held VP positions at Food Tech Solutions, LLC, the leading product development company in Southern California, where she was responsible for R&D, marketing and business development. She was also a partner in two start-up companies called DogEquine, LLC and Dogtown, LLC that developed, branded and commercialized more than 20 products for the animal wellness industry.

Rhondi is currently vice president at Raybern Foods, where she is responsible for R&D, QA, food safety and regulatory for the company. She has authored over 13 patents and is very thankful to the Chapman Family, especially food science faculty members Dr. Anuradha Prakash and Dr. Lilian Were, for allowing her to share her experiences with Chapman’s students.
